- Bus or train to Town Hall or Central Station. From either station it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the Chinese Garden.
- Light Rail from Central Station to Haymarket Station
- Monorail to the Entertainment Centre Station
- Sydney Explorer Bus to the Entertainment Centre
- Take a ferry from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour

Due to traditional stonework and paving, some parts of the walkway are rocky or uneven. While pathways and pavilions in the lower garden are suitable for wheelchair access and prams, disabled visitors may find stairs and rocky pathways in the higher parts of the garden difficult to access.
